How to Play

Founding a Town

Launch a real coin on pump.fun and found its town: the five steps, the cost in SOL and the creator-fee split.

What founding does

Founding launches a new coin on pump.fun through Mintlands and places its town on free land, where everyone can see and visit it.

Every town starts as a Camp. You become its founder: your wallet is the coin's creator on pump.fun.

You need a wallet with a little SOL. Opening the founding form costs nothing, and nothing happens until you sign.

Money:Tokens are risky and can lose all their value. Founding is not a promise of value or returns. Not financial advice.

Where to start

Every one of these opens the same founding form:

  • The Registrar in the Founder's Hall, in The Crossroads.
  • The Land Surveyor on the Crossroads plaza, near where the road from Wayfarer's Hill arrives.
  • Any Land for settlement sign in the world. It picks that exact plot for you.
  • The FOUND A TOWN button next to the action bar, or F.
  • The world map: select a gold claim marker and choose Found a town here.
  • On the website, the Found a Town page.
Tip:Most free land is in The Frontier, in the north-east, where plots are smaller.

The five steps

The form walks you through five steps, in order. Your draft is saved in this browser as you go.

  1. IdentityName your coin (2 to 32 characters) and pick its ticker (2 to 10 letters or digits). Name your town (3 to 24 letters, with single spaces, apostrophes or hyphens). Add a description, and if you like some lore and an image. Then design the town's emblem. Names are checked as you type, and a town cannot take the name of a place in the world.
  2. Choose your landPick a free plot on the map or from the list. Each plot shows its region, its size and its features, such as Riverside or Highland.
  3. Founding detailsConnect the wallet that will sign and pay. Choose an optional first buy and your creator-fee split. The form shows what founding will cost.
  4. PreviewSee a 3D preview of your camp in its land, flying your emblem.
  5. Found your townCheck the summary, press Found, then approve two signatures in your wallet. Keep the window open until your town is founded.

What it costs

Founding costs about 0.021 SOL in network fees and rent, for the two transactions and the new accounts they create.

On top of that you can add a first buy of 0.001 to 50 SOL, or none. It buys your coin at its opening price, in the same transaction that creates it. It can spend up to 1% more than you enter, and anything unused stays in your wallet.

Mintlands charges no founding fee of its own.

Your wallet balance is checked before you sign. If it is too low, the form says how much SOL is needed, and nothing is created or charged. The exact amounts are shown before you sign.

The creator-fee split

pump.fun charges a creator fee on every trade of your coin. In Mintlands it is shared three ways: you choose your founder share, from 0% to 70% in 1% steps. The town treasury gets the rest of 90%, and the Mintlands world treasury always gets 10%.

The default is 50% for you, 40% for the town treasury and 10% for the world treasury.

The split is locked on chain when you sign it and cannot be changed later.

If you decline the second signature, the town is still founded, and all creator fees go to your wallet until you sign the split once from the Mayor's Desk.

Signing twice

When you press Found, your wallet asks you to approve two transactions, one after the other.

  1. Signature 1 of 2Creates $TICKER on pump.fun, with your first buy if you chose one. Nothing is created until you approve it.
  2. Signature 2 of 2Locks the creator-fee split on chain.
  3. Your town is foundedMintlands checks both transactions on chain, then your camp appears on the map for everyone.
Tip:Each request must be signed within about a minute. If time runs out, press Prepare again: nothing was created and no funds moved.
Tip:Keep the window open until your town is founded. If the page reloads, a founding in progress opens again where it was.

After founding

Your camp appears on the map for everyone, and everyone online is told. If you founded it in the game, you travel there and watch it being set up.

You get the Founder achievement, and you can fast travel to your town right away.

From here it grows only with real activity: visitors, quests, deliveries, holders and trading. Its web page, /town/TICKER, is the place to share with your community.

The town treasury

Every town has a public treasury wallet that receives the town's share of creator fees. Its address and balance are on the town page, and anyone can check it on an explorer.

Mintlands holds the treasury's key and spends it only on a fixed list of town actions, each recorded publicly with its transaction. Holders of the coin receive nothing from it, and it implies no financial return.

What the treasury pays for

The Mayor (the wallet that founded the town) spends the treasury at the Mayor's Desk on events, works and reward pools. A spend above 1 SOL, or above 10% of the treasury, goes to a citizen vote first, counted on its full amount.

Events and works are split in half. For example, a festival for 0.50 SOL: 0.25 SOL to the Mintlands world treasury, 0.25 SOL in prizes for players who take part. The world half pays the staging or build cost; the prize half stays in the town treasury until the prize window closes.

Taking part in an event means completing a quest from the town's notice board, delivering goods to its storehouse, or trading its coin at its market stall while you are in the town, during the event. Festivals and market days also count active time in the town; idle time never counts. Taking part in works means delivering goods to the town storehouse in the 48 hours after the spend. The server records all of it; nothing is self-reported.

Prizes are paid when the window closes to the linked wallets of characters at least a day old, in proportion to recorded participation, at most 10% of the prize pool per wallet and one wallet per account. Payouts under 0.001 SOL, and the whole prize pool if nobody takes part, stay in the town treasury.

Bounties, raids, tournaments, dungeon delves and world bosses are reward pools: all of their SOL goes to players who take part, by verified contribution. NPC adventurers never count and are never paid.

Money:Prizes depend on who takes part, and there may be none for you. They are rewards for playing, not a return on holding the coin. Not financial advice.

Risks

Founding launches a real token. Tokens are risky and can lose all their value.

Founding is not a promise of value or returns, and a town's size reflects activity, not value.

Money:Not financial advice.
