Coins and Trading
Wallets, SOL and every fee on a trade, in plain words. You never need to trade to play.
What trading is
Each town's coin is a real Solana token. You can trade it at the town's Exchange stall (talk to its merchant), at the Grand Exchange in The Crossroads, or in the trade box on the town's web page (/town/TICKER).
You never need to trade to play. Everything in the game is free.
Wallets and SOL
A wallet is an app that holds your SOL and your coins. Mintlands works with Phantom, Solflare, Backpack or any Solana wallet installed in your browser.
You buy SOL outside Mintlands and send it to your wallet.
Connecting takes two approvals in your wallet: allow the connection, then sign a free sign-in message. It sends no transaction and costs nothing. It also links the wallet to your account, so you can get your characters back on another browser or device.
On a phone, open Mintlands in your wallet app's built-in browser to connect.
The trade box
Buy is entered in SOL, with quick amounts of 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 SOL. Sell is entered in tokens, with 25%, 50% and Max.
Without a wallet you see an estimate from the current price. With one, you get a live quote that refreshes every few seconds.
The quote shows what you receive, the price impact, the protocol fee, the creator fee, the minimum received and the route.
A buy keeps 0.01 SOL back in your wallet for network fees and rent.
A new coin trades on pump.fun's bonding curve. When the curve sells out, the coin graduates and trades in a PumpSwap pool instead.
Where your SOL goes
Every fee is shown in SOL on the quote before you sign. Here is where each one goes:
- The protocol fee goes to pump.fun.
- The creator fee goes to the coin's creator-fee split: the founder, the town treasury and the Mintlands world treasury (10%). If the founder did not sign the split, all of it goes to the founder.
- Your wallet also pays Solana's network fee.
- Mintlands adds no trading fee of its own. Its only share is the world treasury's 10% of the creator fee.
Slippage and failed trades
Max slippage is how far the price may move between your quote and the moment your trade lands. Choose 0.5%, 1% (the default), 2% or 5%.
If the price moves further, the trade is cancelled and no funds move.
If a quote runs out before you sign, a fresh one is fetched. Nothing is sent until you approve it in your wallet.
Checking a trade
Your wallet shows each transaction before you approve it. Read it before you sign.
After a trade you get a link to an explorer, a public website that shows the transaction.
The town page lists recent trades from anywhere and marks the ones placed in Mintlands.
Check the coin's mint address on the town page before you trade, because different coins can share a name.
Trading XP
Trades placed through Mintlands (a town Exchange, the Grand Exchange or a town web page) give Trading XP. Bigger trades give more, up to 250 XP per trade.
Trades made anywhere else give none. A trade on the website only counts while one of your characters is in the world.
Risks
Tokens are risky and can lose all their value.
A town's size reflects activity, not value or future returns.
Mintlands shows real on-chain data. It never tells you what to buy or sell.
